Supporting our community and beyond!

A community minded business for almost 20 years, Salon owners Linda & Steve Perrette continue to take a leadership role in supporting many local and national charitable organizations. “Our staff members are the most dedicated, generous young people willing to give of their time, money and heart in support of their community and beyond, we are so proud of them” says Linda.

Hope Cuts – Looking good & feeling great!

City of Hope is one of the world’s leading biomedical research and treatment center for cancer, diabetes and other life-threatening diseases. Top salons all across the country participate in an event called Hope Cuts.

“Our decision to participate in Hope Cuts was simple,” says salon owner Linda A. Perrette. “They do great things to help so many people. Helping them to help others enables us to support our community as well as reach people in need outside of our community”.

“All staff members donated their Sunday off and their talents. By offering students discounts on hair and skin care services we raised over $2500 (the entire day’s proceeds) to benefit the City of Hope” says salon manager Michele Brown.

Donations of Love – Raising awareness & money

“We have been donating hair to the Locks of Love organization since its inception in 1997, so we decided to contribute on a much larger scale”, says Linda.

What turned into a 10-month effort began with salon owners Linda, Steve & salon manager Michele visiting all the local schools to explain Locks of Love, a non-profit organization that provides hairpieces to financially disadvantaged children who suffer from medical hair loss. Through the efforts of everyone, we were successful in cutting and donating over 450 ponytails. The campaign culminated in a benefit called “Donations Of Love” hosted by Public Image Limited, where 300 clients attended a gala event held at the Brownstone and we raised $10,000 from prizes donated. Linda & Steve then flew to Lake Worth Florida to personally deliver their check to Madonna Coffman the founder of Locks of Love.

In 2007 we cut and donated over 700 ponytails to this great cause!

Driving - The message home

We hosted a day of beauty and fundraising event for students from the Wayne Valley H.S. to raise awareness of the dangers of drinking and driving to benefit MADD. (Mothers Against Drunk Driving). A peer council comprised of 28 students spearheaded the fundraising campaign by selling ribbons. Students were treated to complimentary haircuts & makeup lessons.

Bob Nulman a MADD representative spoke to the students about his son Dan, a 22-year-old college senior who, along with three of his friends, was killed by a drunk driver. Passaic County Sheriff Jerry Speziale also spoke to the parents and the students.

This was the second time we have invited MADD into our salon prior to the H.S. proms. If we can just prevent one underage senior from making a mistake then it was all worth the effort.

A Community Party – Done with style

Wayne Day is a great way for all of the citizens of Wayne to get together in a central location for some old fashioned fun and entertainment. Since there is really no “MAIN STREET” it is held in the back of the Wayne Valley HS field.

Some of the fun events we have conducted on Wayne Day have been a hair / fashion show, a skin care seminar, eyebrow waxing and have given away hundreds of dollars of TIGI products. We have held several raffles including free haircuts for a year and discounts towards future in salon services. The best part of Wayne Day for us, is meeting our neighbors and explaining one-to-one what it is we do at Public Image Limited each and everyday and how great we can make them look and feel!
